Service Description: Our 2018 high-resolution (0.5 ft. per pixel) imagery is available in Natural Color (Red, Green, Blue) and Color Infrared. The aerial imagery was captured by our vendor Dewberry during January 30-31, 2018. Prior to delivery, the vendor geometrically corrected (orthorectified) the imagery such that the its scale is uniform and any distortions have been corrected. This process allows for an accurate representation of the earth's surface that can be used to measure true distances and extract GIS features. After delivery, TLCGIS staff performed additional quality control and enhancement processes to prepare the imagery for publication. This Color Infrared (CIR) imagery more clearly shows natural features that often do not show up well in RGB imagery. A band of infrared imagery is converted to a visible spectrum so we can see it. CIR imagery is useful to environmental scientists and others who need to identify features such as wetlands. This imagery can also help experts determine the type and the health of vegetation. This imagery is also high-resolution. Acquisition Information: Digital Aerial Solutions (DAS) collected approximately 787 square miles of 4-band digital stereo aerial imagery in Leon County, Florida in January 2018 using a LEICA ADS100 aerial mapping camera. DAS performed the aerial triangulation and orthorectification to produce 0.5 foot pixel resolution digital orthophotos. Dewberry collected surveyed ground control points that were used in the aerial triangulation process. The data were formatted according to the Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM) tile naming convention with each tile covering an area of 5,000 feet by 5,000 ft. A total of 876 ortho tiles in GeoTiff format were produced for the project. This dataset is part of a regularly schedule update of lidar and digital orthophotography products.
